¿No?

Description : Have you ever read Neuromancer? No? Well, any
cyberpunk story featuring hackers that travel
along cyberspace with some special glasses from
the future will do it. Because that's this Cy-
                          berDuke.
Maybe it will be shocking, maybe even ugly, but
this was the map that I wanted to build; no more
cities with streptease bars... I'm sure some pla-
yers will hate it. It can be confusing, so I sug-
gest reading the "argument", down this page.

Game : Duke Nukem 3D (Atomic), with Eduke32. It won't
work with other ports. Eduke32, only Eduke32, be-
cause it's the only engine able to manage hundreds
                          of sprites without some disappearing.

Cooperative : No. Tried it, but couldn't make it to work.

* Construction *

Base : New level from scratch.
Build time : About a month, december 2010 - january 2011.
Editors used : Mapster32 in Linux.
Known bugs : Some; not all are fixable, though.
For example, the use of palettes 12, 13 or 16
in a lot of sectors causes color changes in the
                          monsters' suits when they walk over them -hehe-;
also in Duke's pants. It's not an important de-
tail, but can be somewhat strange.
And more... I think is possible to fall in the
void without dying, but it should be extremely
rare. And some monsters seem confused and can't
                          navigate the map efficiently.

* Story *

After years killing ugly aliens, Duke decided that it was time for learning
a calmer trade. He chose computing. So now Duke is a boring and potbellied
dude that configures servers, mantains web pages, installs operating systems
and all that crap.

One night, Duke got an urgent call from an anguished client, an important
bank from Beijing: "We have a virus in our system! This is chaotic, Duke, we
are paralyzed, and cannot continue buying American debt, and without us the
USA are going to implode like the USSR and there will be weeping and gna-
shing of teeth. This must be solved fast, before they decide to attack any
country of Third World suckers..."

And, after the promise of a generous pay in yuans, Duke walked to his termi-
nal and, wearing his "special glasses from the future for exploring the cy-
berspace", he obtained access to the Chinese system, and began his work:
clean the viruses and restore the mainframe to a functional state.

In the future, people travel along cyberspace and see a lot of cool things
with solid and electric colors. But for some reason that nobody understands,
Unix is still in use. So the virtual world that Duke will visit has the fo-
llowing remarkable places:

* /etc/init.d - All begins here. There are valuable supplies that Duke should
pick up before exploring the rest of the system.

* /bin/su - Duke must log in as "root" or administrator in order to work with
the system, and this is the place to do that. Of course, it's a fortress
  well guarded against unauthorized visitors.

* /usr/X11R6/bin/X - The X Window System still exists, lurking in the system's
deeps. A relic from a forgotten past, a thousand intrepid hackers had been
sunk into madness by it, and it's believed that some of them still roam
around its convoluted code, forever lost and unable to find an exit. Some-
thing similar has happened to the virus, it seems.

* /dev/null - All that falls here disappears. Including reckless hackers.

* /etc/passwd - The file that keeps all the system's users with their pass-
words. Any computer virus with a little of self-esteem would like to enter
  here and spread the chaos.

* /bin/csh - The command line, generally used in black screens with green text
by guys with glasses that write incomprehensible orders. The virus does here
as it pleases, sending random files to /dev/null and making copies of itself.
  Duke must reestablish order.

* /var/log/syslog - From this control center Duke can oversee the system, and
keep an eye on all that happens in it.

* /sbin/shutdown - When the work had been completed, Duke must come here to
  reboot the system.

* Informacion del Nivel *

Cooperativo : No, no he logrado que funcione bien.

Sonidos nuevos : No.
Graficos nuevos : No.
Música nueva : Sí (midi de System Shock).
Demos sustituidas : No.

* Construcción *

                          escenario.

* Historia *
