Deathrun by Alfonzo 14th,

This is my first map, but probably one of the best user-maps there is. It contains a lot of explosions, a lot of you running away from explosions and a lot of you dying from explosions because I'm too bloody clever for you. You have been warned, it isn't easy to live and if you do you'll only have 2-3 percent health left and then you will die from the explosion that comes about ten seconds later. I hope you enjoy it however and you better because it probably took me about half a year, working on and off, to complete this thing (there are a lot of those bloody C-9 to program if you look at it in build).

Anyway, to set the scene, here is a little story for you to read whilst warming your toes next to a roaring, open fire...

... There is a mansion. Inside the mansion, the sound of Rachmaninov's Concerto no. 3 can be heard in F minor. The Duke is sitting, slumped in his emerald green leather chair. There is the smell of wax as candles burn on the harth above the fire place. The wax drips slowly, down onto the oak mantel. The Duke watches it. Suddenly the phone rings, the red alert l.e.d. blinks on and off.
"Oh bugger," says Duke, and places Sherry on the table beside him. He strides over to the phone and picks it up. There is a voice.
"We need you. Now."
"I'm on my way."

"Gentlemen, as you all know we have been monitoring the progress of the alien life form for several months now on the planet of Oregon. Scouts have been sent to search the planet for the aliens main power source. They have found, what we predict to be the largest of their power plants. The nuclear reactors have to be destroyed if we are to ever overcome this bastard race that has been cleansing the earth of all human life forms. We are some of the few that are left and if do not strike now, then soon they will come for us. Is that clear, gentlemen?"
The officer finishes debriefing the men who are sitting in a small room with stained walls from the dampness and a heavy fog of cigarette smoke. He waits patiently for questions.
An army commander breaks the silence, "I know we are to get Duke in via some sort of sewer shaft, but what about a pick up point. You didn't seem to specify that area. Of course, I don't presume that you are sending Duke on a suicidal mission, are you officer?"
"Of course not," the officer replies in hurried tones, "I was merely vague as to the pick up point because the last message we got was that the most likely route of escape is via some old mine shafts where the aliens had first planned to make an entrance into their reactor. Apparently, there are three shafts that fork out from the main one, each ending in a long drop. The scouting team weren't able to investigate fully, but it is believed that there is a pool to land in mid-way down one of the drops. Unfortunately they were captured before they could radio in and say which tunnel led to safety. I'm going to be frank here Duke Nukem - you've got a one in three chance of survival, and also there is the fact that you will probably be being chased by the explotion of the reactor. Let's say that it will be sort of like a death run."
The room was silent. Duke sat there, not a muscle moving on his face. There was no expression there. However, behind the mask, the mind was moving furiously, weighing out the pro's and con's. Finally it came to a conclusion and sent the ansewer to Duke Nukem's lips:
"I'll do it. Somebody has got to save those poor babes and you know that I am the only man capable of such a task."
The officer, who had just expierienced enough agony to last him a life time in the space of two minutes, sat back in his chair and relaxed his body, exhaling a sigh of relief at the same time...

So there you go. That should get all you blood thirsty freaks ready to taste the real thing. Here is all the information about the map and news of levels to come.

Where to get this;

From whoever may decide to put this up on their web site after I've e-mailed it to just about every Duke Nukem web site that there is, as I currently don't have one. If you some how get my e-mail address, then e-mail me and I'll send it to you :)

Other work in progress;

I'm also in the process of making a giant city map and when I say big I mean really big. It has taken me 5hrs, just to do the layout of the city and the basic shape of all the shops. A preview has been made of the actual layout with all the textures included and some of the shops have already been done. There are a few aliens but not many (cos it isn't finished yet). Also don't expect an ending or any sort of layout yet because it hasn't been incorporated either. Basically it is a quick taster of what is to come :)

I am STILL trying to get to grips with Half-Life and Quake2 build engines, however all I have done so far is make small levels, each one getting better as I learn how to do more and more. So that means that one day you will see levels for those games, but really my heart lies in Duke Nukem (1: because it is easy to understand the engine, 2: because it is the most amusing, first person shoot-'em-up ever and 3: because Dukem Nukem is like me - very cool and very smooth).

All that legal stuff that everyone puts at the end of these things;

You may not have Deathrun.map with out this txt file being with it. If I find out that you've deleted one of the best stories ever written to set the scene for a Duke Nukem level then I'm going to kill you :( Also, please do not sell this or any of the contents of the zip file without my consent. Do not alter this level and then sell it or share it round for free without my prior consent. Do not breathe or fart without my prior consent. If I find out that you have done any of these things without my prior consent then I will torture you until your death by using feathers and sharp sticks, OK? Good.
